Attendance

Accountants Technology Showcase

ATSA is the Accountants’ Technology Showcase Australia, described as the independent technology event for accountants & bookkeepers in practice. At its heart is a series of presentations by industry experts and displays by various technology vendors to the profession. I went last year and thought it very worthwhile and am heading to Sydney for 16 and 17 October to attend again.

There is no question that technology is at the core of every accounting and advisory firm, as it is at the core of our lives generally. As a result, I hold the belief that being educated about what tools are available and how they can be used is a prerequisite for success in 2017 and beyond.

Have a look at the ATSA website here: https://smithinkevents.com.au/atsa/ and decide for yourself if it is right for you. If not you personally there may be someone else in your firm who is better placed to attend and bring back knowledge to share with others.

Technology Survey Participation

One of the features of ATSA is the large number of interesting speaking sessions on a very broad range of technology in business topics relevant for accountants. Perhaps my favourite session each year is where David Smith shares the results of the annual ATSA technology survey.

Technology Survey

I encourage every firm to participate in the survey as it is a great way to compare your firm’s technology with others. The results will be presented at ATSA and participants receive a free copy of the report. The ATSA website also says participants go into the draw to win two free tickets to ATSA 2017. (if you’re registered they’ll refund the registration fee).

Smarter Business Systems competition to win a prize pack including two ATSA tickets

I try to stay on top of tools available to accountants so that if I see something I think a firm might get value from I can mention it to them. Recently I came across a tool called FuseDocs from Smarter Business Systems. In essence it provides some process automation for accountants that can cut down the time taken to perform certain tasks. It looks very interesting and for some firms I imagine there would be a very fast ROI.  For more details and to enter – click here. Smarter Business Systems is a spin off from an accounting firm so the people involved have hands on experience in solving accountant problems.
